Video: Research team developing a phone bag made of human skin-like material
Late last week, the New Scientist magazine published an article about a research team in Paris who developed a phone case made of a human skin-like material that reacts to touch accordingly.
Marc Teyssier of Telecom ParisTech led the project and Marc said:
“The leather case responds to different gestures that mimic human emotional communication.
"There are two prototypes of the skin: a stunning realistic model and one that resembles a uniform foam. Both are made of three layers and a rubber brass wire is placed between them to track the pressure placed on the material," Marc said.
In addition to the leather phone case, the team also designed a computer touchpad and a smart watch strap.
The team's next plans are to integrate hair into the skin, include temperature features and add an automatic finger that allows it to crawl through a table
